Kurzweil K2600 Options Objects Information

This zipped file contains five separate Object files, described below.

You will also need to download the file K26_BASE_OBJECTS_300.ZIP. It contains the file OBJKB300 Base Block Objects.

When installing Object files, you will install 1 or more object files, depending on which blocks you have in your instrument.

The file OBJKB300.K26 (from the K26_BASE_OBJECTS_300.ZIP archive) contains only the Base Block Objects. It includes:

Programs, Setups, Keymaps, etc. from the 0s and 100s banks.
Triple Mode Programs (730-739)
KB3 Programs (750-769)
Additional Stereo Piano programs (770-787)
All KDFX Objects (Studios, FX Presets, and Algorithms), found in multiple banks

INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS

1. Copy the file OBJKB300.K26 onto a DOS formatted floppy. Copy the files from this zipped archive to a second floppy.

2. Start the K2600

3. Press and release the Exit key while the "Please wait..." message is displayed. This brings up the K2600 Boot Loader.

4. Insert the floppy with the file OBJKB300.K26, then choose "Install Objects" from the Boot Loader menu.

5. Highlight "floppy" at the "Device to install from:" prompt. Press OK. Highlight the file named "OBJKB300.K26". Press OK, then follow the prompts on the display to load this object set. The Display then returns to the "Device to Install From" display.

At this point, you have two choices. If you need to install object files for the ROM block options, press OK, and proceed to step 6. If you don't have any ROM blocks, then jump to step 7.

6. If you have any options in your unit, insert the floppy with the Options files on it. Repeat the Object Installation procedure for each additional file you need to install. For example, if the K2600 has the Orchestral ROM and Sampling Options installed, you should load the OBJKB300.K26, OBJKO101.K26, and OBJKL101.K26 object files.

7. When you have loaded all the Object files that you require, you will again be asked to choose a "Device to install from:" Press Done. The Kurzweil will finish installing the Objects and you will be returned to the Boot Loader menu.

8. When the installation is finished, choose "Run System" from the Boot Loader.

While you won't normally need to reinstall the object files, you should still put the disks in a safe place, just in case you may need them again.

Note: you can also install these files from a DOS or Kurzweil formatted SCSI disk. When the display asks which device you want to install from, change the parameter to the appropriate SCSI ID.
