Kurzweil K2600 Version 1.03 Base Block Objects Information

This zipped file contains the file OBJKB103 Base Block Objects. This version of Objects is required if you have version 1.13 or later of the K2600 operating system.

When installing Object files, you will install 1 or more objects files, depending on which blocks you have in your instrument.

The file OBJKB103.K26 contains only the Base Block Objects. It includes:

Programs, Setups, Keymaps, Songs, etc. from the 0s and 100s banks.
KB3 Programs (750-769)
Additional Stereo Piano programs (770-787)
All KDFX Objects (Studios, FX Presets, and Algorithms), found in multiple banks

If your unit has v2 or later of the operating system, you will also need to download the file K26_TRIPLE_OBJECTS_100.ZIP. This zipped archive contains the file OBJKT100.K26, which contains the Trip Modular Processing Programs (730-739).

If your unit has any of the ROM Block options or the Sampling option, you will also need to download the file K26_OPTIONS_OBJECTS_101.ZIP. It contains three files:

OBJKC101.K26 - Programs, Setups, Keymaps, etc. for the Contemporary ROM (800s bank plus Programs 788-793)
OBJKO101.K26 - Programs, Setups, Keymaps, etc. for the Orchestral ROM (900s bank plus Programs 794-799)
OBJKL101.K26 - Live Mode Programs and Keymaps (Programs 740-749) The Sampling Option is required in order to use Live Mode.

Please note that the current Base Block objects version is 1.03, while the Triple Objects are v1.0 and the object files for the options are all 1.01.

INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS

1. Copy the file OBJKB103.K26 onto a DOS formatted floppy. If you have downloaded K26_TRIPLE_OBJECTS.ZIP, unzip the file and copy it onto the same floppy. If you have downloaded the OPTIONS_OBJECTS.ZIP file, unzip the file and copy the 3 .K26 files to a second floppy.

2. Start the K2600

3. Press and release the Exit key while the "Please wait..." message is displayed. This brings up the K2600 Boot Loader.

4. Insert the floppy with the file OBJKB103.K26, then choose "Install Objects" from the Boot Loader menu.

5. Highlight "floppy" at the "Device to install from:" prompt. Press OK. Highlight the file named "OBJKB103.K26". Press OK, then follow the prompts on the display to load this object set. The Display then returns to the "Device to Install From" display. Assuming you have installed v2 or later of the operating system, you now need to install the Triple Objects file. Select the file OBJKT100.K26 and press OK, following the prompts to install this second file.

At this point, you have two choices. If you need to install object files for the ROM block options, press OK, and proceed to step 6. If you don't have any ROM blocks, then jump to step 7.

6. If you have any options in your unit, insert the floppy with the Options files on it. Repeat the Object Installation procedure for each additional file you need to install. For example, if the K2600 has the Orchestral ROM and Sampling Options installed, you should install the OBJKB101.K26, OBJKT100.K26, OBJKO101.K26, and OBJKL101.K26 object files.

7. When you have loaded all the Object files that you require, you will again be asked to choose a "Device to install from:" Press Done. The Kurzweil will finish installing the Objects and you will be returned to the Boot Loader menu.

8. When the installation is finished, choose "Run System" from the Boot Loader.

While you won't normally need to reinstall the object files, you should still put the disks in a safe place, just in case you may need them again.

Note: you can also install these files from a DOS or Kurzweil formatted SCSI disk. When the display asks which device you want to install from, change the parameter to the appropriate SCSI ID.
