Kurzweil K2500 Version 4.03 Options Objects Information

This file is for a K2500 which has the KDFX option installed. The file is an update to the v4.01 Options Objects file

This zipped file contains four separate Object files, described below.

You will also need to download the file BASE_OBJECTS_500.ZIP. It contains the file OBJKB500 Base Block Objects.

IMPORTANT!!!

Starting with v4.00, the procedure for installing Objects files has changed.

Previously, there were five different Objects files - each file for a different combination of ROM blocks. Only a single Object file was installed - you would choose the one that fit the particular configuration of your instrument.

Starting with v4.00, there are now separate files for each block (plus one for Live Mode). You will install 1 or more objects files, depending on which blocks you have in your instrument. A new Boot Loader program is required to allow multiple files to be installed. However, if you already have KDFX in your unit, the new boot loader should have been installed by the service technician, but you may want to double check this, as described in the installation instructions below.

The file OBJKB500.K25 (from the BASE_OBJECTS.ZIP archive) contains only the Base Block Objects. It includes:

Programs, Setups, Keymaps, etc. from the 0s and 100s banks.
KB3 Programs (750-769)
All KDFX Objects (Studios, FX Presets, and Algorithms), found in multiple banks

The four files in this zipped archive include:

OBJKP403.K25 - Programs, Setups, Keymaps, etc. for the Piano ROM (Programs 770-789)
OBJKC403.K25 - Programs, Setups, Keymaps, etc. for the Contemporary ROM (800s bank plus Programs 790-793)
OBJKO403.K25 - Programs, Setups, Keymaps, etc. for the Orchestral ROM (900s bank plus Programs 794-799)
OBJKL403.K25 - Live Mode Programs and Keymaps (Programs 740-749) The Sampling Option is required in order to use Live Mode.

INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS

1. Copy the file OBJKB500.K25 onto a DOS formatted floppy. Copy the four .K25 files from this zipped archive to a second floppy. As noted above, a new Operating System file is also available for installation. If you have downloaded it, copy it onto another floppy.

2. Start the K2500

3. Press and release the Exit key while the "Please wait..." message is displayed. This brings up the K2500 Boot Loader. The Boot Loader Version is displayed on the top line. If you are also installing any of the options files, you need version 1.10 or later of the Boot Loader. If you have an earlier, please send email to support@kurzweilmusicsystems.com and we will send you a file to update your boot loader.

4. If you are updating the operating system, insert the operating system floppy, then use "Install System" from the K2500 Boot Loader to install the new operating system. Highlight "floppy" at the "Device to install from:" prompt. Press OK and follow the prompts to install the correct file. You will be returned to the main Boot Loader page.

5. Insert the floppy with the file OBJK500.K25, then choose "Install Objects" from the Boot Loader menu.

6. Highlight "floppy" at the "Device to install from:" prompt. Press OK. Highlight the file named "OBJKB500.K25". Press OK, then follow the prompts on the display to load this object set. The Display then returns to the "Device to Install From" display.

7. If you have any options in your unit, insert the floppy with the Options files on it. Repeat the Object Installation procedure for each additional file you need to install. For example, if the K2500 has the Stereo Piano ROM and Sampling Options installed, you should load the OBJKB500.K25, OBJKP403.K25, and OBJKL403.K25 object files.

8. When you have loaded all the Object files that you require, you will again be asked to choose a "Device to install from:" Press Done. The Kurzweil will finish installing the Objects and you will be returned to the Boot Loader menu.

6. When the installation is finished, choose "Run System" from the Boot Loader.

While you won't normally need to reinstall the objects files, you should still put the disks in a safe place, just in case you may need them again.

Note: you can also install these files from a DOS or Kurzweil formatted SCSI disk. When the display asks which device you want to install from, change the parameter to the appropriate SCSI ID.

We recommend performing a hard reset after installing and running the new system. Choose the Reset soft button from the Master page. (Save any RAM objects to disk before performing a reset.)
