This zipped file contains the file OBJKB490 Base Block Objects. It is for a K2500 with the KDFX option installed. This version of Objects is required if you have version 4.76 or later of the K2500 operating system. This file also contains a PDF file documenting the new KDFX objects added with this version. This PDF file requires Adobe Acrobat reader. If you do not have this file, you can obtain it at no charge from the Adobe web site at www.adobe.com.

When installing Object files, you will install 1 or more objects files, depending on which blocks you have in your instrument.

The file OBJKB490.K25 contains only the Base Block Objects. It includes:

INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS

1. Copy the file OBJKB490.K25 onto a DOS formatted floppy. If you have downloaded the K25_OPTIONS_OBJECTS.ZIP file, unzip the file and copy the four .K25 files to a second floppy. As noted above, a new Operating System file is also available for installation. If you have downloaded it, copy it onto another floppy.

2. Start the K2500

3. Press and release the Exit key while the "Please wait..." message is displayed. This
brings up the K2500 Boot Loader.

4. If you are updating the operating system, insert the operating system floppy, then use "Install System" from the K2500 Boot Loader to install the new operating system. Highlight "floppy" at the "Device to install from:" prompt. Press OK and follow the prompts to install the correct file. You will be returned to the main Boot Loader page.

5. Insert the floppy with the file OBJK490.K25, then choose "Install Objects" from the Boot Loader menu.

6. Highlight "floppy" at the "Device to install from:" prompt. Press OK. Highlight the file named "OBJKB490.K25". Press OK, then follow the prompts on the display to load this object set. The Display then returns to the "Device to Install From" display.

7. If you have any options in your unit, insert the floppy with the Options files on it. Repeat the Object Installation procedure for each additional file you need to install. For example, if the K2500 has the Stereo Piano ROM and Sampling Options installed, you should load the OBJKB403.K25, OBJKP403.K25, and OBJKL403.K25 object files.

8. When you have loaded all the Object files that you require, you will again be asked to choose a "Device to install from:" Press Done. The Kurzweil will finish installing the Objects and you will be returned to the Boot Loader menu.

6. When the installation is finished, choose "Run System" from the Boot Loader.

While you won't normally need to reinstall the objects files, you should still put the disks in a safe place, just in case you may need them again.

Note: you can also install these files from a DOS or Kurzweil formatted SCSI disk. When the display asks which device you want to install from, change the parameter to the appropriate SCSI ID.

We recommend performing a hard reset after installing and running the new system. Choose the Reset soft button from the Master page. (Save any RAM objects to disk before performing a reset.)
