Installation Procedure
The complete instructions on using the 2661's Boot Loader can be found in Appendix A of the "Getting Started Guide". The pertinant portions are repeated here for convenience.
Installing new Objects requires a hard reset which will clear all user memory. Please be sure to back up any personal data before proceeding.
The K2661 receives its updates through through either SmartMedia Card or SCSI (hard disk or CDROM). To install an Object File(s) in your 2661 you will first need to copy the Object file(s) onto either one of these mediums. The simplest approach will be a SmartMedia drive as they are readily and inexpensively available from a variety of electronics and computer retailers.
- Turn on the K2661.
- When you see "Please wait..." press and release the Exit button
- Once the "Boot Block Main" page loads, press INSTALL
- The K2661 will display a screen that lets you indicate the device from which you are installing. Use the alpha wheel to select either SMedia OR the appropriate SCSI ID (if you are installing from an external SCSI device). Press OK
- Locate and select ALL of the Object Files pertinant to your units configuration. This includes the K61v100.K26 Base Objects file (included here) IN ADDITION to any Option ROM Files required by your unit. Anytime you alter or update your ROM Objects, all pertinant Object files must be installed simultaneously, regardless if they were ever previously installed. You can select multiple files in this screen simply by highlighting them one at a time and pressing [SELECT]. Each selected file will be marked by an asterisk (*). Press OK.
- When the load is complete, press the DONE soft button.
- Press the RESET soft button and follow the prompts (pressing YES twice).
- The unit will reboot.
Done.
