System Update Instructions for the Artis^®SE v1.11

UPDATE METHODS:

The Artis SE can be updated by one of two methods:

• Method (a): USB storage device
  requires: Computer (Mac or PC) with USB port + USB Storage device - such as a flash/thumb drive (drives drawing 100 mA or less are recommended).


• Method (b): direct USB connection to computer
  requires: Computer (Mac or PC) with USB port + USB cable.

UPDATE PROCEDURE:

1. Choose Update Method:

   (a) If updating via USB storage device (for ex. thumb drive) insert the device into a free USB port on your computer.

   -OR-

   (b) If updating via USB-to-Computer connection, connect a USB cable between the Artis SE "Computer" USB port and any available USB port on your PC/Mac.

2. Enter SYSTEM MODE:

   Power the Artis SE OFF. Press/Hold the ASSIGN button and turn the Artis SE on. Release the ASSIGN button when the you see the following screen (the version displayed may differ):

   Artis SE System Mode Version 1.72

3. Copy the Update File (.KUF):

(a) If updating via USB storage device: copy the included .KUF to the root directory of the flash/thumb device using the method specific to your computer system. Once copied, safely eject/unmount the device before physically unplugging it from the computer's USB port. Once safely ejected, connect the device to the Artis SE "Storage" USB port.

(b) If updating via USB-to-Computer cable connection: at step 6 (below), when selecting "PC USB" as your update method, an Artis SE temporary "drive" will appear on your computer as a removable disk. At that time you will be instructed to copy (drag and drop) the .KUF update file to this temporary removable disk. Be sure to copy the ONE appropriate file when prompted. For now, proceed.

4. Press the Param/Channel UP (∧) arrow button once.
   The display will show "Update Software":

   SYSTEM MODE 2/5 Update Software



5. Press the + button once.
   The display will show "Update: PC USB":

   Update Software 2/3 Update: PC USB

   
   
6. Press the ASSIGN button to choose between "PC USB" or "USB Device" as your Storage Type:

   Choose either-

   (a) USB Device (if installing from USB flash/thumb drive):

   Update Software 2/3 Update: USB Device

   -OR-

   (b) PC USB (if installing via direct USB-to-PC cable connection):

   Update Software 2/3 Update: PC USB

7. Press the + button to confirm your selection and continue. The screen will temporarily show the following:

   Update Checking Device...

If you chose "PC USB" as your Storage Type, continue with step 8.
If you chose "USB Device" as your Storage Type, skip to step 9.

8. If you chose "PC USB" at step 6 you will see a prompt on the Artis SE to copy the file now:

   Update Copy file To drive and press + to continue

   On your computer, copy the .KUF update file to the temporary removable disk mounted on your computer. Once copied, safely eject the temporary removable disk from your computer.

   Press + on the Artis SE to proceed.

   Skip to step 10.
   

9. If you chose "USB Device" at step 6 the display will show "Select File":

   Select File 1/11

   Use the Param/Channel UP/DN arrow buttons or the Alpha Wheel to select the KUF file from the list of files on the USB device.

   Select File 2/11 ARTSE111.KUF

   When the KUF file is selected in the display, press + on the Artis SE to proceed.

   Proceed to step 10.



10. The display will show "Installing..." during the install process:

    Update Installing...

    When the install is complete, the display will show "Done":

    Update Done



11. Confirm the OS and Objects were installed correctly:

    Power the Artis SE off and back on. The Artis SE will reboot to normal operating mode and is ready for use. Go to GLOBAL mode, press the Param/Channel DN (∨) arrow button twice to select Global Parameter 30. Confirm you see the following:

    GLOBAL 30/31 OS: 2.50.1816 Obj:1.00.7
