"A good instrument, in my opinion, is the one that inspires composing, creating, improvising. Kurzweil does it, by giving rich sounds and becoming part of the creation process”.
- Albano Sales
Albano Sales began studying piano very early, and in adolescence started acting professionally. He studied composition, conducting and arranging with major Brazilian teachers, such as Almeida Prado and Cyro Pereira, and majored in music at the State University of Campinas, Unicamp.
Albano has worked with famous Brazilian and foreign artists and musicians, such as Pery Ribeiro - a remarkable representative of the Bossa Nova era, the trombonist Raul de Souza, Zimbo Trio and the Grammy awarded Flora Purim, during the period he lived in Los Angeles.
Albano has also created arrangements and compositions for albums, theater soundtracks and scores for symphony orchestras. He has worked on stage, in the studio, on cruise ships, and in musicals such as Cats.
Despite having worked as a sideman with significant artists, Albano Sales now prioritizes his own work as a composer and performer of his own compositions. He recorded a first album of his compositions, "Retrato Brasileiro" (Brazilian Portrait) and is in production on the next, to be released soon.
